Important Information for Visitors with Banned Breed Dogs

We have now received a further update (Jan 6th 2024) from our Insurers regarding banned breeds (including XL Bully type dogs from 31.12.23).

We are happy to allow owners of banned breed dogs, including XL Bully ‘Type’ dogs to visit the Paddock or the Coppice.

The good news is, once you are securely in the park area booked - The Coppice or the Paddock - which means you need to LOCK the car park entrance gate and then once inside the Paddock or the Coppice – ensure that gate is also locked – your dog will be able to enjoy a lead & muzzle free session.

There are some restrictions with regards to field occupancy that customers will need to comply with.

  • If you own a dog currently on the banned breed list (including XL bully ‘types’ from 31.12.23) you MUST have a Certificate of Exemption for your registration with the index of exempted dog [IED]  (by 31.1.24 for XL bully ‘types’) & Public Liability Insurance, copies of which MUST be sent to Us prior to your visit, failure to do so will mean your session will be cancelled.

  • Please email these to us at hello@towpathtails.com once your booking has been completed.

  • Your dog must also be microchipped and neutered (in line with the government timescales/age).

  • Your dog must be muzzled and on a lead whilst in the parking area and you MUST lock the gate to the Paddock or the Coppice you are using so that no one can gain access. Once you are securely inside the field area you have booked, you can then remove the lead & muzzle.

  • Before returning to the parking area you MUST put your dog back on the lead and place the muzzle back on BEFORE entering the parking area & car.

  • Dogs from multiple households can now attend a joint booking session even if there are banned/exempt dogs present. However, at present, If there are dogs from different households, the exempted/banned dog breeds will need to remain muzzled and on a lead at all times with a 1:1 handler; as at this time no people from other households can be present in the field where an exempted/banned dog is unmuzzled and off-lead.

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions and in particular section 10

This is a big improvement on what was first being advised by our insurers so we hope your dog/s can still enjoy their freedom whilst using Towpath Tails Dog Park. If you are unable to follow the rules please do not proceed with your booking.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us on 07891 761705

Thank you, David, Isaac and Shelley – Towpath Tails Dog Park
